Guide to A Perfect Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is just around the corner! It’s the perfect day to do something special for your mom, wife, or other extra special woman in your life. Today we’re going to talk a bit about how to plan the perfect Mother’s Day. We’ll also share a few of our favorite pieces of jewelry that make great Mother’s Day gifts.
Did You Know…
In the United States, Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1908, a bit over 100 years ago and became a national holiday in 1914. Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May in the USA, but here in Mexico, “Día de las Madres” (as it’s known) is always celebrated on May 10th!
In Mexico, most families gather together for a potluck dinner or visit a restaurant together. A fun Mexican tradition is singing the song Las Mañanitas to all the mothers in attendance:
Planning a Wonderful Mother’s Day
If you’re planning on doing something special for your mom (or want to help your kids treat their mom to a special day) on Mother’s Day, don’t worry: it doesn’t have to be complicated!
Many moms say that their favorite Mother’s Days are uncomplicated and days when they can simply relax and enjoy being with their loved ones.
That said, here are a few simple ideas for ways you can make mom’s day extra special!
Enjoy a Special Brunch at Home
If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant, you know that the biggest crowds and longest lines are on Mother’s Day. So why go out to eat when you treat mom to a special breakfast or brunch at home?
Think about dishes you can prepare a day in advance, like this yummy looking egg white Frittata from the Food Network. If you need even more ideas, check out this slideshow of 41 amazing Mother’s Day inspired brunch recipes. I especially like the look of those sticky buns! If mom’s looking for something a little less indulgent, here are some healthy recipe ideas, too!
Spend Some Time in Nature
If the weather permits, consider packing a picnic lunch and enjoying it in a local park, enjoying a hike, or riding bicycles as a family. The key is to enjoy relaxing quality time together! Just have fun!
If you’re stuck indoors on Mother’s Day, you can still have plenty of fun! Look for local craft fairs or art shows where you can see unique works from local artisans. Or visit a museum or art gallery in your area. If you decide to stay home with the family, play a few board games or look at old pictures together.
Remember: Gifts are Optional!
Your mom doesn’t need a fancy gift. Simply spending quality time with your mom is the best way to show her how much you love and care for her. But there’s nothing wrong with giving gifts, either! A great gift, like a piece of handmade jewelry, is something that can remind your mom about how much you love and care for her– even when you’re not together.
